SP Boost Actuated Exhaust Cutout Released

Our boost activated exhaust cutout allows you to just drive and not worry about flipping switches, etc.. It uses an actuator to open the valve on its own (fully open at 11psi) so on full throttle it opens the second it hits desired boost. You can run it off of the actual actuator (11psi) or you can keep it closed by wiring up a solenoid to tell it at what boost level to open.

It’s full stainless steel construction is virtually indestructable and will not bend/break from usage. There are no electric motors to fail, and it opens extremely fast vs the alternative products on the market.

Available in 2.5″, 3″, and 4″ Sizes.

SP’s Open house!!!

Before:

After:

First of all thatnks to all who came out even though the weather didn’t cooperate, It was cool to hang out with you all!!!

It was cool to see the Nissan guys come out in a group of 20 or so!!! those are some sick cars!

We didn’t have as many supras and Muscle cars as I expected, but I understand… the weather man wasn’t very promising with his outlook for Saturday. It turned out to be pretty good.

We had a wide range of dyno #’s form the high 100’s to 700 HP!!!

I ordered 35 Pizza’s and I am pretty sure they were gone in about 10 min…. But with 200 people in attendance, I didn’t think they would last long. Thanks to the Chi racing culture guys for hooking us up with Chicken and grape Juice (It was suppose to be GRAPE DRINK!!!) but either way it was good!!!

I do plan on having a few more events here at the shop through out the summer, so keep checking the site for info!!!

SP Open house!!!

The Domestic Crowd is coming out as well with Some of the Fastest cars in chicago!!! Better yet the weather looks to be perfect on Saturday!

SP @ Byron 4-4-09

Well, it’s finally springtime here in Chicago and opening day of Byron Dragway was this past Saturday. Our 350z has been done for a couple weeks and we’ve been awaiting some nice weather and the opening! We headed to the track and after a delayed opening we started to make some base boost runs. Since we were on our new version of the RPS Carbon Carbon clutch, and new SPL suspension we figured a couple base runs would help me get a feel for it.

First couple passes the track wasn’t hooking at all and I bogged a bit on them, clutch is more grabby so I just have to get used to slipping it. After a few passes and getting used to the clutch we ended up turning the boost up a bit and it resulted in a couple mid 9 second passes.  Here are some pics courtesy of “Panda” from www.thechicagogarage.org (Thanks)

SP Exhaust cut out

I have been getting many calls… and I mean MANY calls about or boost actuated cutouts that we made. The biggest question is “When are they going to be ready to ship?” The answer to that is SOON!!! I am hoping by next week I should have some 3 and 4 inch units in stock. Soon after that I will have the 2.5 inch versions ready for sale to the public.

I am trying my best to get these out for you guys… but I (we) do not want to release a product until its been fully tested. Pricing for the cut outs will go as follows:

SP Boost Activated Exhaust Valve (includes: valve, actuator & actuator mount)
2.5″ $349
3″ $349
4″ 399

Additional items
Y-pipe (Stainless)
2.5″ $48
3″ $48
4″ $77

Y-pipe (Aluminized)
2.5″ $42
3″ $45
4″ $65

We are also going to offer a 3bolt flange style with an angle cut piece of stainless so you could just cut an opening on the exhaust and weld up the piece we provide (option to adding that “y” section).

We also have hobb’s switches and solenoids to use in conjunction if you want to set the boost level of where it opens. otherwise it will be about a 7-8psi fully open setting, or we can get different actuators for you to open at higher boost levels.

I will be glad to answer any of your questions that you may have. You can call the shop or email me at tim@spracingonline.com

Thanks!!!

Spring Snow storm

So this weekend I had to pick up a car in Cedar rapids Iowa at our favorite body shop. (Golden Hammer auto Body)

I get up nice and early and load up the SP 28′ enclosed trailer to my 1 ton Dually pick as I have done many times before… I leave The shop at 12 noon on the dot just as planned. There was talk of a winter snow “event” coming through the area. No big deal… I have driven in snow before, Right?

So we leave Chicago and it starts to rain… Rain is good. We get outside of Chicago… Downpour, No big deal its just rain. Then the wind picks up… Driving in the wind would be like trying to carry a 4×8 sheet of plywood on a windy day… dosent work well. By this time my gas gauge is is falling faster that than the Dow after Obama took office.

We make it into Iowa and we start to see snow… Big Heavy flakes, I look at my thermometer and it is just above freezing (Thank God) We go a bit further and notice that things are getting slippery as car after car is in the ditch!! I look at my thermometer and it hit 29 degrees!!! OH SNAP!!! Big trailer, 2 wheel drive Dually pick up… Not the optimum conditions for this rig.

So we take the speed down to about 50mph, I am going down a small grade when I noticed the car ahead of me was going slower than me… so I backed off my speed. All of the sudden the back of my truck took off to the left as the trailer was pushing me! So basically I was in a drift at around 50 mph with a huge trailer in tow!!! I counter steered all i could to stabilize the the sideways action that the trailer was forcing. I knew if I hit the brakes on the truck it would all be over resulting with a jackknifed trailer and me in a ditch. So with my cheetah like reflexes and my awesome driving skills I hit the trailer brake controller to slow the big ass white thing behind me… SUCCESS!! the truck came back on the road and all was good.

We get a bit further and the snow was so heavy that I literally could not see. then as fast as it started… it stopped only to turn into sleet. More and more cars ended up in the ditch sometimes 5 and 6 at a time!!! At one point traffic stopped and we could not see why… as we got closer we see this…

Car flip

Car flip

This slowed things down a bit…

to make a long story short we made it back to Chicago without incident with the car that we had to pick up!I am on my way to Texas and then Tampa to drop off/pick up some other cars, So i will let you know if anything happens on that trip!

Mad driving skills

This guy has some mad driving skills!!!

Project G35 sedan

We are currently building one of the most insane G35 Sedans out there! Here is a quick list of what we’re doing

4.1 Stroker
SP Twin Turbo Kit (Twin 62mm billet turbos)
SP Fuel System (SP Triple pump hanger, 1200cc inj…)
SP TH400 Transmission
ProEFI ECU
10pt cage
Cobra Seats
Wheels (undecided )
SPL Full suspension

and lots more.

At this time the motor is ready to be dropped in. We are still waiting on the Custom torque Converter for the TH400 transmission. Once that arrives (In a few days) We will be able to bring this car to life.  The next step is to work on wheels. I have to come up with a street wheel and a drag wheel while maintaining larger brakes for both street and strip applications. Billet specialties will have the task for the drag wheel set up.

The Idea for this car is to keep stock looks, but have a 1000 whp at the drivers disposal!!!
