SP’s Open house!!!

Before:

After:

First of all thatnks to all who came out even though the weather didn’t cooperate, It was cool to hang out with you all!!!

It was cool to see the Nissan guys come out in a group of 20 or so!!! those are some sick cars!

We didn’t have as many supras and Muscle cars as I expected, but I understand… the weather man wasn’t very promising with his outlook for Saturday. It turned out to be pretty good.

We had a wide range of dyno #’s form the high 100’s to 700 HP!!!

I ordered 35 Pizza’s and I am pretty sure they were gone in about 10 min…. But with 200 people in attendance, I didn’t think they would last long. Thanks to the Chi racing culture guys for hooking us up with Chicken and grape Juice (It was suppose to be GRAPE DRINK!!!) but either way it was good!!!

I do plan on having a few more events here at the shop through out the summer, so keep checking the site for info!!!

SP Exhaust cut out

I have been getting many calls… and I mean MANY calls about or boost actuated cutouts that we made. The biggest question is “When are they going to be ready to ship?” The answer to that is SOON!!! I am hoping by next week I should have some 3 and 4 inch units in stock. Soon after that I will have the 2.5 inch versions ready for sale to the public.

I am trying my best to get these out for you guys… but I (we) do not want to release a product until its been fully tested. Pricing for the cut outs will go as follows:

SP Boost Activated Exhaust Valve (includes: valve, actuator & actuator mount)
2.5″ $349
3″ $349
4″ 399

Additional items
Y-pipe (Stainless)
2.5″ $48
3″ $48
4″ $77

Y-pipe (Aluminized)
2.5″ $42
3″ $45
4″ $65

We are also going to offer a 3bolt flange style with an angle cut piece of stainless so you could just cut an opening on the exhaust and weld up the piece we provide (option to adding that “y” section).

We also have hobb’s switches and solenoids to use in conjunction if you want to set the boost level of where it opens. otherwise it will be about a 7-8psi fully open setting, or we can get different actuators for you to open at higher boost levels.

I will be glad to answer any of your questions that you may have. You can call the shop or email me at tim@spracingonline.com

Thanks!!!

Spring Snow storm

So this weekend I had to pick up a car in Cedar rapids Iowa at our favorite body shop. (Golden Hammer auto Body)

I get up nice and early and load up the SP 28′ enclosed trailer to my 1 ton Dually pick as I have done many times before… I leave The shop at 12 noon on the dot just as planned. There was talk of a winter snow “event” coming through the area. No big deal… I have driven in snow before, Right?

So we leave Chicago and it starts to rain… Rain is good. We get outside of Chicago… Downpour, No big deal its just rain. Then the wind picks up… Driving in the wind would be like trying to carry a 4×8 sheet of plywood on a windy day… dosent work well. By this time my gas gauge is is falling faster that than the Dow after Obama took office.

We make it into Iowa and we start to see snow… Big Heavy flakes, I look at my thermometer and it is just above freezing (Thank God) We go a bit further and notice that things are getting slippery as car after car is in the ditch!! I look at my thermometer and it hit 29 degrees!!! OH SNAP!!! Big trailer, 2 wheel drive Dually pick up… Not the optimum conditions for this rig.

So we take the speed down to about 50mph, I am going down a small grade when I noticed the car ahead of me was going slower than me… so I backed off my speed. All of the sudden the back of my truck took off to the left as the trailer was pushing me! So basically I was in a drift at around 50 mph with a huge trailer in tow!!! I counter steered all i could to stabilize the the sideways action that the trailer was forcing. I knew if I hit the brakes on the truck it would all be over resulting with a jackknifed trailer and me in a ditch. So with my cheetah like reflexes and my awesome driving skills I hit the trailer brake controller to slow the big ass white thing behind me… SUCCESS!! the truck came back on the road and all was good.

We get a bit further and the snow was so heavy that I literally could not see. then as fast as it started… it stopped only to turn into sleet. More and more cars ended up in the ditch sometimes 5 and 6 at a time!!! At one point traffic stopped and we could not see why… as we got closer we see this…

Car flip

Car flip

This slowed things down a bit…

to make a long story short we made it back to Chicago without incident with the car that we had to pick up!I am on my way to Texas and then Tampa to drop off/pick up some other cars, So i will let you know if anything happens on that trip!

Every year Sound performance has an open house to let all our customers see the inner workings of
our shop, meet the crew, see the cars and mingle with others that share our common interest… fast cars!!!
This gives us a chance to meet the familys and hang out with all of you on a personal level!

This year is shaping up to be a big event! We have clubs from all over the city coming out to hang out for a
day. Groups like ChicagoZ with the baddest 350z’s and G35’s in the midwest, The CHI racing culture crew with
cars ranging from Supra’s to Lamborgini’s, and we cant forget the guys from Chitownracing!! These guys got some CRAZY fast cars!!!

So come on out to our shop on April 25th (The day after the first RSD of the season) to check out some Dyno action, Food, Cars and
all kinds of mayhem. We will kick things off at 10am, Dyno starts up at noon with our world record setting 350z Followed by 20 or more of
some of the sickest cars around!

SP 350z/G35 Differential Brace

We’re happy to announce the release of our newest 350z/G35 product. This is a MUST part if you do any drag racing in your 350z. There is only 1 main bolt holding the diff to the backside of the subframe. With the addition of our bracket you increase the support when launching the car.

We did all of the testing on our shop 350z and with numerous 9 second passes and sub 1.5 60ft launches it’s help insure our differential stays in place.
